In order to keep the Stoney Creek Community better informed, we will be providing a week at a glance for each week to feature events that families might need reminders about and to keep everyone up-to-date on what’s happening each week.  At the bottom, we will include large upcoming school-wide events and community programs to keep your eyes open for.

Monday, June 15

  • Volunteer Tea in the Gym at 8:30 – 9:30 am – Stoney’s annual parent and community volunteer appreciation event – please RSVP! (more details below)
  • Div. 6 Field Trip – Fraser River Discovery Centre
  • Soccer Club at lunch in the Gym
  • Creekside Pre-Teen Drop In for Gr. 5 – 7 students. Runs from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Creekside Portable

  • Staff Meeting @ 3:00 – 4:30 pm

  • Council Meeting at 6:00 pm in the Library (AGENDA) Contact taryn.briscoe@burnabyschools.ca if you require childcare in order to attend the meeting.

COMMUNITY NEWS:

Stoney Creek’s Volunteer Recognition Tea – Please RSVP – The Stoney Creek staff would like to thank all of our parents and community members who have volunteered throughout the school year!  Whether you drove, participated in family reading, helped out events, supervised on field trips, helped with special events, served pizza and subway, sorted books, served breakfast, fundraised, participated at Council meetings, ran movie nights, installed our fish fence art and much more…we appreciate all that our parents and community does to support our school and our students. Please click here to view the invitation to our Volunteer Tea event which will take place at 8:30am on Monday, June 10th.  Please RSVP so that we know how many to expect.

BPL Summer Reading – Join the free Summer Reading Club for kids of all ages at Burnaby Public Library! Registration starts on Monday, June 15 at any BPL location or you can sign up online.  Read anything, anywhere, any way, and in any language.  Being read to also counts!

Check out activities for kids at the library this summer at all locations.

At the end of the summer kids can come in for their Summer Reading Club medals!

Save the Date! Questcoast Kids Canada Day Chili Cook-Off and NEBCA Bake Sale: Join us July 1 at Peanut Park for the 2nd annual Chili Cook Off. Sign up now to join the competition or connect with us to include your small business in the event. Questcoastkids.com/chili-cook-off

Whether you cook a chili or not, everyone is welcome! We will have family yoga by Monkinya, a sensory tent by Monarch House, a Dino themed scavenger hunt by Questcoast Kids and more.

City of Burnaby Summer Fun Pass is available for kids aged 5-18 years old. Stay active this summer with access to drop-in activities at Burnaby recreation facilities. The pass costs $20+GST and is valid from June 26 – September 8. More details available here.
