Burnaby Schools are proud of a unique literacy tradition that began in 1985. It celebrates the best in student writing and provides career exploration by inviting students district-wide, from Kindergarten to Grade 12, to submit an original story or poem to the annual Words Writing Project.
Selected works are published in a limited edition anthology and distributed to libraries, teachers, the authors and their families, and our sponsors.
For most, the Words Writing Project is an introduction to the published world. Some of our student authors have gone on to successful careers with many crediting their success and recognition in the Words Writing Project as an inspirational milestone.
