In order to keep the Stoney Creek Community better informed, we will be providing a week at a glance for each week to feature events that families might need reminders about and to keep everyone up-to-date on what’s happening each week.  At the bottom, we will include large upcoming school-wide events and community programs to keep your eyes open for.

  • Home Alone Program in the School Library from 6:00 – 8:00 pm (more details below)

COMMUNITY NEWS:

Home Alone Program at Stoney Creek takes place on Wednesday, March 4th in the School Library, for students in grades 4-7 (age 10+ with parent participation). This 2 hour course is for parents who want to prepare their child for staying at home alone once they are 10 years old or older. The course is designed for both parent and child together and is facilitated by The Family Education and Support Centre.

**Space is limited and registration is required** This expression of interest form provides more details. Please complete and submit the form by February 22nd if interested in participating. The Community Office will email you registration and payment information once your space is confirmed.

NEBCA (Fun Rec Day Camp) Annual General Meeting – Date Changed to February 11

Please note: the AGM date has changed. The Northeast Burnaby Community Association (NEBCA) will now hold its Annual General Meeting on February 11 at 7:30 p.m. (online).

NEBCA operates Fun Rec Day Camp, Rec & Read, and the community garden. Attendance by community members at the AGM is important to help NEBCA meet eligibility requirements for grants that support and help keep these programs running and affordable.

All community members are welcome to attend. NEBCA is currently seeking a Treasurer (bookkeeping, accounting, or finance experience preferred) and also welcomes interest from community members interested in joining the Board.

Reminder: February is Registration Month – Register in February if your child:

  1. is starting Kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year, and/or
  2. will be new (all grades) to the Burnaby School District in the 2026-27 school year.

Note that current Grade 7s who attend a Burnaby School District elementary school do not need to apply in February for secondary school unless they are wanting to attend a high school that is outside of their home’s catchment / attendance area. Welcome to Kindergarten Information Evening is a session offered to parents of children with disabilities or diverse abilities. It will be held on Thursday, February 19. More details and registration information available on this flyer.

SD41 Spring Break Camps for Gr. 4-8 Students – Registration will open on February 17th. Camps will be fun and interactive and will include classes such as cooking, sewing, visual arts, volleyball, basketball, and rock band.

Camps will:

  •    last one week (March 16-20 and March 23-27) with the option to book one or both weeks
  •    run from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday
  •    cost $400 per week
  •    have location choices of Burnaby Mountain, Burnaby North, Byrne Creek and Moscrop Secondary schools.
