In order to keep the Stoney Creek Community better informed, we will be providing a week at a glance for each week to feature events that families might need reminders about and to keep everyone up-to-date on what’s happening each week.  At the bottom, we will include large upcoming school-wide events and community programs to keep your eyes open for.

COMMUNITY NEWS:

NEBCA (Fun Rec Day Camp) Annual General Meeting

The Northeast Burnaby Community Association (NEBCA) will hold its Annual General Meeting on January 28 at 7:30 p.m. (online). NEBCA operates Fun Rec Day Camp, Rec & Read, and the community garden, and relies on community participation at the AGM to help maintain funding that keeps summer programs affordable.

All community members are welcome to attend. NEBCA is also seeking a Treasurer (bookkeeping, accounting, or finance experience preferred) and welcomes interest for other new Board members.

Programs and Registration Reminders:

Shadbolt Art Programs Art Explorations will be offered to Grade 4-7 students. This activity will run from Monday, January 12 – Monday, March 2. Shadbolt Family Art Night will be held on Monday, February 23 in the Stoney Creek Community Room from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Registration is open! Winter City of Burnaby Afterschool Programs at Stoney Creek – registration is open for our January/February programs. For activity details and registration information, please review this flyer.

Creekside Activities – Please note that the following Creekside programs are now open for registration:

  • Pro-D Day Camp: Lazer tag & swim on Feb 27th (register here, view flyer here)
  • Girls Group program that starts on Jan 29th (register here, view flyer here)
  • Preteen Spring Break Camp: March 23-27 (register here)

Calm & Confident Parenting – Burnaby Family Life is offering this parenting program starting on January 15th in the Stoney Creek Community Room from 12:45 – 2:45 pm. The group will meet for 8 consecutive Thursdays, covering a variety of topics and offering a space to share strategies and ideas that will help create calm and joyful moments for you and your family. Burnaby FC Registration Open – The next round of afterschool soccer will be open to Grade 2 and 3 students. It will run on Mondays from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the School Gym from January 12 – February 9 (no session January 26). Registration is open SchoolCash Online. The cost of this program is $40 – if your child is interested in participating and you are in need of financial support to cover the cost, please contact Ms. Briscoe by email asap (taryn.briscoe@burnabyschools.ca)

Night Hoops Registration Open – This is a free Friday night basketball program for Grade 6 & 7 students. It will be running from January 9 – February 13 in the School Gym from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Click here to register.
