In order to keep the Stoney Creek Community better informed, we will be providing a week at a glance for each week to feature events that families might need reminders about and to keep everyone up-to-date on what’s happening each week.  At the bottom, we will include large upcoming school-wide events and community programs to keep your eyes open for.

Monday, November 17

  • Girls Volleyball Practice – 8:00 am in the Gym
  • Soccer Club – at lunch in the Gym
  • Young Artists Afterschool Program (pre-registered/full) starts today from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the Staffroom (1 of 4)
  • Creekside Pre-Teen Drop In for Gr. 5 – 7 students. Runs from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Creekside Portable
  • Fall Burnaby FC Afterschool Program (pre-registered/full) for Gr. 2 – 5 students from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the Gym (LAST SESSION)
  • Big Brother Teen Mentor Program (pre-registered) from 3:00 – 5:00 pm in the Community Rm
  • Family Movie Night Order Deadline – food and ticket orders due by 11:59pm tonight on munchalunch.com

Tuesday, November 18

  • Boys Volleyball Practice – 8:00 am in the Gym
  • Intermediate Dance Club – 12:20 pm in the Gym
  • Knitting Club – at lunch in the Library
  • Kids Club Afterschool Program (pre-registered/full) from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the Community Rm (3 of 5)
  • Drama & Improv Afterschool program (pre-registered/full) from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the Music Rm (6 of 8)
  • Boys Volleyball Tournament – 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Wednesday, November 19

  • Girls Volleyball Practice – 8:00 am in the Gym
  • Ukulele Club – at lunch in Room 205
  • Creekside Pre-Teen Drop In for Gr. 5 – 7 students. Runs from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Creekside Portable
  • JJ’s Homework Club – for registered Gr. 6-7 students from 3:00 – 7:00 pm in the Community Rm
  • Council Meeting (agenda) – 7:00 pm in the School Library (everyone welcome to attend). Please email taryn.briscoe@burnabyschools.ca if you’d like to request childcare in order to attend the meeting.
  • Sun Oka Apples Arrive at Stoney – more details to come re: pick up times

Thursday, November 20

  • Adult English Conversation Circle from 9:15 – 10:15 am in the Community Rm (free weekly drop in program, more details here)
  • Gr. 1 One-To-One Literacy Workshop from 9:00 – 10:30 in library
  • Gr. 3/4 Board Game Club – 12:20 pm in the Library
  • Girls Volleyball Tournament – 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
  • Family Movie Night! Hosted by the Community Council, taking place in the Gym – more details below

Friday, November 21

COMMUNITY NEWS:

Family Movie Night – Join us for The Bad Guys 2 Movie Night on Thursday, November 20th! Doors open at 6:00 pm, showtime at 6:30 pm in the school gym. Tickets and food are for sale until November 17th on munchalunch.com. The Council is also requesting volunteers to help at the event. If you are available, please click on this volunteer signup to select a task and time.

Special Pizza Hot Lunch – The Community Council has planned a special Little Caesar’s Pizza hot lunch for Friday, November 28th. This special lunch day is for those students who are NOT already on the monthly School Meal Program (which is already serving pizza that day), or for any students who may want to order juice, cookies, or crazy bread in addition to their lunch. Food orders can be placed on [munchalunch.com]munchalunch.com (click on “Order Lunch!” from top menu options) The order deadline is Saturday, November 22nd.

Community Sharing Request – we would like to learn more about our community’s cultures and traditions. More details are on the attached flyer. If you have something you are interested in sharing please complete this form.

Vancouver Warriors Lacrosse Tickets – Thank you to Vancouver Warriors Lacrosse athletes Marcus and Owen who hosted a special assembly for Stoney on Thursday! The students were grateful to learn the history of lacrosse and participate in some fun lacrosse games. The Warriors have left us some 2 for 1 vouchers to a Warriors game. If you would like to watch a Warriors game and could use the 2 for 1 ticket voucher, please fill out this form and we will send the vouchers home with your child.  Limited quantity available!
